You are warmly invited to a one-day conference for Hub and Spoke services and their local partners, to hear about the findings of the Alexi Project evaluation. This is the final opportunity to meet with other Hub and Spoke services, and hear answers to some of the following questions.

  • How effective is the Hub and Spoke model at reaching children and improving local practice?

  • What is the role of the voluntary sector in safeguarding children from CSE?

  • What have we learned about effective voluntary and statutory sector partnerships?

  • What does the voluntary sector need, in order to continue to provide these valuable services?

We will be sharing new resources that have been produced in partnership with young people, and highlighting other key CSE-related research being produced by the International Centre at the University of Bedfordshire.

Cake, Coffee and Comics for Social Workers

On the 8th November, members of the Young Researchers Advisory group and staff from the International Centre will be handing out free tea, coffee and cake to staff working in children's services in Hackney. In return we are asking them to take away one of our comics on a postcard.

The postcards all focus on the experiences of young people who have encountered professionals beacuse of child sexual exploitation. This illustrated set of 'ten principles' are evidence-based and co-produced with young people, to help explain what good and bad responses from professionals actually feel like.

Workers will be invited to reflect on the comics, and post messages back to the team in response. We hope the event will be a positive context for converstions about how all professionals can be supported to make sure children affected by abuse are listened to and cared for.
